Master of Handmade
Introducing Jacqueline Thomas, a visionary book designer and maker who breathes life into captivating narratives through the art of digital collage. With a keen eye for aesthetics, she collects diverse imagery from numerous sources, crafting pages that embody the essence of their subjects. Each book is printed, stitched and bound by hand, with a screen or digitally printed cover.
Driven by curiosity about the physical and natural sciences, both past and present, she is particularly inspired by the tales of intrepid explorers, adventurers and scientists who have expanded humanity’s understanding of the physical and natural world.
Take a journey through the pages of these extraordinary books, where artistry is mixed with scientific wonders, and allow the magination to take flight.
Jacqueline has also ventured into the world of collage using just paper and glue, with pieces inspired by a variety of subjects, her most recent work relating to Philip Glass’s opera Akhnaten.
Jacqueline’s creations have found a place in collections including the British Library Contemporary Collection, The Constance Howard Resource and Research Centre in Textiles at Goldsmiths, University of London, Kingston University London, Stony Brook University, New York, the Helen Storey Foundation, National Art Library in London, as well as in private collections across the United States, Australia and the UK.
